Storing slides

Presently, I'm storing my Realist slides in the plastic storage pages supplied
by Reel-3d.  I find it a very convenient and compact system, but I'm worried
whether the plastic will affect the permanence of the images.  I use mostly
Ektachrome film, btw.

I read somewhere that, as a rule of thumb, if plastic has a smell, then it's bad
for slide storage, and these pages certainly smell!

Does anyone have any advice or comments?

Keith, from the sunny UK - at least it was earlier, now it's just cold and dark!
