I would have to agree with you on both counts. Kodachrome 25 is fantastic. 
Trouble is, if you happen to be in the woods and the air is moving at all, 
you just can't use the stuff. 

I also agree that Velvia's speed is over-rated. Many nature photographers 
use 40 as their preferred rating. Maybe this is because Velvia's tolerance 
for over-exposure is really phenominal (at least for reversal transparency 
films). Sunny scenes can be "over-exposed" to yield a bright atmosphere that 
retains color nonetheless.
