I think the 'DiscView' idea is great! It reminds me of an article in
the January 1979 issue of REEL 3D NEWS. Apparently, one of Seton
Rochwite's (designer of the Realist) last projects was a pocket-sized
stereo camera that used 110 film. It made use of a special film cartridge
which ensured EXACT registration of the two images every time. Instead of
cutting the images out in two parts the (PERFECTLY REGISTERED!) images were
cut out together, having a portion of blank film separating them:

(cut) (cut)
The cut strips were then placed into a ready-made mount/sleeve.
It even had it's own viewer, which according to David Starkman, who
had the good fortune of seeing this prototype, the image is "razor sharp,
and with the precision prototype viewer the perceived size should please
any Stereo Realist fan."
Put me down for two of the 'DiscViews' :-) jamie.
