storing slides

I'm not so sure about those vinyl holders sold by reel 3-d.  I got a sample one 
back in 1988 and stored it in a box with some of my other stuff.  By chance, an 
aluminum mount happened to be on top of it.  When I pulled down the boxes from 
storage recently, the aluminum mask had a white desposit on it where it appeared 
to have contacted the vinyl sheet.  Kinda chalky, but not real thick.  I decided 
then and there (well before your question) that I wasn't going to take a chance 
on storing my slides on those.  Some of you may have different experiences, but 
I just don't trust them.
