Off the top of my head (could be wrong), my recollection is that
continuing the way we were referred to list splitting, not the recent 
changes to asynchronous digests or no filters.  The asynchronous 
digests are to help the few on this list who cannot receive large 
mail messages.  Some of them are our most knowledgeable contributors. 
We could, of course, dump those who don't have adequate mail systems 
but somehow that doesn't seem quite right to me.  (Maybe I'm too soft.)
However, if it appears that the present system is too onerous (it
looks that way now), we may have to return to the daily digest.  When 
all is said and done, I do indeed, as do most on this list, believe in 
democracy, aka "tyranny of the majority", and not in the tyranny of 
the minority.  8-)  The no filter change was effected in response to
the overwhelming, screaming demands of list members on and off list to 
get rid of the @!**#&#!!! filters.  Now if there is an overwhelming 
demand to reinstate the filters, I'm sure Bob will be more than happy 
to do just that.
