Holographic sega game

The game was called "Space Ranger" [I think]
and it was on a kind of flat black table, the characters "appeared"
to stand and walk around freely on the table, just like the image of
princess Leia in Star wars... where R2d2 shows her message to Obi Wan.

The thing is though, is that the image was *NOT* holographic at all!
it was an entirely different process.
If you get a nice shiny spoon and look at reflections then sometimes things
appear to be floating in space... somehow this effect was improved and
put into the game.

The unfortunate thing is though that it "confused" the mind a lot.
I remember looking at it and my mind sort of going...
oh it's flat...no it's not... yes it is....
and my eyes going from seeing a flat object and then a 3D one :)
weird!

It kind of hurt the eyes a bit too...
it looked great but I never played it... and nobody else did either.
before long it was removed from the arcades, a complete dud.
