projectionist's glasses

"Take a pair of cardboard glasses and cut off the top half .... bi-focals. "

I took a pair of Buddy Holly glasses and cut out the top half of the
polarizing material with an x-acto blade. The plastic frames are sturdier, a
little more comfortable, not as likely to get crushed under a Selectray, etc.

It really works beautifully. I try to keep on-screen adjustments to a
minimum but sometimes you gotta.

This issue is addressed in Krause, p. 53, under the heading "Four-way Vision
for Projectionists" just before "Effective Showmanship"

My projection problem: I like to indulge in a little narration with most
slides. Also, after all the work of preparing a show, I crave seeing the
slides from (near) the ortho seat. So after sliding in the image and
checking adjustment, I usually run from the projector up closer to the
screen where my friends are sitting so I can get a better view/be heard/hear
comments. This technique most certainly does NOT come under the category of
Effective Showmanship.

But its more fun. Selfish me.
