Field of View : Las Vegas

Stephen Kearney asked how to view "real world" images in 3D through a viewer.
Closest thing I ever had to "immersion" in the image was at Epcot Center at
the Horizons pavilion. The hanging pod you are in enters an Omnimax theatre
and all you can see is the image on the concave screen which extends almost
beyond peripheral vision. I so want them to modify this to 3D. I wrote to
Tony Baxter, a high school chum, who has done a lot of design work there to
suggest this concept. I think there was concern about having to put seat
belts and air sickness bags in the pods, or something like that.
Secondly, has anybody done PANORAMA width 3D with two panorama cameras, one
one PANORAMA on a slide bar??. Are there any PANORAMA type screens
available anywhere or do you have to get one custom made?
Reminds me of the 200 or 300 foot wide panorama movie shown straight down on
a screen on the floor at the Montreal worlds fair. The audience was in
balconies in a high rise building looking down on the screen. The film was
taken from a plane looking down on the earth and cities. 3D Omnimax shown
straight down on an omnimax screen on the floor with the audience viewing it
from a high rise circular viewing balconies would be interesting angle.
Great for World Fair, not much repeat business.
Nearest thing to viewing balconies I know of today are at the Luxor movie in
Las Vegas. That's pretty impressive and fills a large part of one's viewing
radius. Anybody know of good 3D things in Las Vegas?? I will be there for
a few days soon. Thanks.
