format transfer?

Hello,

This is my first post to the group since I joined about a week and a
half ago.  I originally joined because I have a large number of
ViewMaster reels that my parents (and grandparents) took, and I
wanted to find a camera/cutter in order to continue the legacy/
hobby.  However, as a result of the projection discussion that 
has been going on recently, a question has been coagulating in
my mind:

I teach Biochemistry at a university.  A text (other than the one
required for the course) has a lot of stereo views of biomolecules
(59mm wide x 56mm high) and a "taylor-merchant STEREOPTICON 707"
viewer.  My questions are these.  1: what is the format of these
shots?  I think that it is unrelated to any of the formats I have
seen mentioned here.  2: Is it possible to transfer these to a 
format that can be projected for the class to view (assuming that
I cannot get such materials from the publisher, and that I CAN get
permission to do the transfer and display)?
