Yep,  years ago I bought a little mechanical timer/shutter release gadget.
Screwed it into the cable release socket of the Realist and it worked fine.
However, I prefer to used a "rubber bulb with a long rubber tube and plunger"
release.  With this gadget, I can just squeeze the bulb to trip the shutter.
Of course, you would want to compose the shot so that the long, thin tube is
not seen.
