The small portable self-timers are easy to obtain. I bought one at a flea
market and another at a local camera show. I paid less than $10 for each.
They are about the size of a lipstick case, with a little flag that you
raise, and a plunger that screws into the Realist release hole. When you
press the gadget's release, the flag moves down as a visual indicator of
when the shutter will fire. When the flag hits bottom, the shutter fires.
Works great.
