Computer 3D and ViewMagic print viewer

I've been experimenting with printing computer generated 3d images on a
Canon Bubblejet printer (BJC600) and viewing them with a ViewMagic
viewer. The method I have been using is as follows :
1. Create equal size left and right images
2. Create a new blank image twice the height (but same width) as
the left/right images.
3. Paste the right image into the top of the new image, then paste
the left image into the bottom.
4. Print the new image with a height of exactly eight inches on
the printer.
To generate the left and right images I am either using cut and paste
in Picture Publisher or using VistaPro to generate fractal landscapes
(you can move the "camera" position in VistaPro).
This works and gives 3D images when viewed with the ViewMagic viewer,
but the dotty diffusion pattern from the printer gives a slightly fuzzy
effect to the 3D.
Has anybody had any better success with this method? Has anybody tried
it with an Epson Stylus 720dpi printer? Is it worth persevering, or do
I need a $10,000 printer to get satisfactory results?
