I dont know about candle wax, but I know that the clear liquid floor wax
(the ones that claim dubiously to be acrylic) can be used to fill 
scratches in plastic lenses and (my personal expirence) to fill the
scratches on the bottom of a Compact Disk so that it is playable
in the Cd player again.
