Jeff, as far as vignetting on a V-M P goes, it's perhaps the most common
failure mode, and fortunately an easy job to replace the shutter pad if you
are not afraid of getting into the camera and have a good replacement
material for the pad.  I did one just before Christmas for a local buddy,
for $25.  

I was not aware that Dr. John Roll offers V-M repair service.  Interesting.
