FED settings & battery

John Bercovitz has had problems with the exposure setting switch
changing on his FED. I have also had this problem but it doesn't
happen very often. There is another problem that all FED users
should keep in mind. When the battery dies it doesn't go all at
once. Last year I took my FED on a trip to Philadelphia and when
I processed the film it was entirely overexposed. One of my best
shots (shown at this years regional Northern California NSA meeting)
is of a reflecting sphere in the City Hall center atrium, I can
only image how much better it would be if properly exposed. My suggestion
to FED users is that you change the battery once a year, maybe the
same time you change the battery in your smoke detector.
