Or, send your viewer to Dr. T.

I have encountered the noise problem before. The spring was not put back
properly and was touching the changer metal plate, causing the noise.

Instead of bending the contacts, it is now possible to fit one of the
shortened halogen bulbs without any viewer modifications. I sell a variety
of halogen screw-base bulbs, including two different current ratings, clear
and forsted glass envelops, original and shortened (to fit the red button
viewer too).

Cleaning the lenses is involved. To reach the lenses you need to take
apart the reel-advance components. When trying to remove the lenses from
their barrel, be careful not to chip the lenses.

In some viewers the lens' barrel is shinny uncoated plastic causing
distracting internal reflections. I use a matte black paint to paint it.
Painting a metal (not plastic) reflector can help to increase illumination.

As Sid said (thanks!) more details are in my book which comes with a back-
reflector and a diffuser. The back reflector increases the amount of light
by 1/2 f-stop.
