I think there are too many photogs out there who have shot square for too
long to universally agree with your statement that a 2 by 3 aspect ratio
maximizes options. George alludes to a few disadvantageous options in his
post: more time spent reloading, more film to lug, and increased media
costs... another would be no way to take advantage of the portrait "option"
in a twin lens camera.

Consider: if RBT were to clone a couple of Hasselblads to make a "pro"
medium format stereo camera, it would have a square format, and I don't
think too many shooters would complain... except for the price!
