I agree. This rationale also applies to 2D photography. Beyond that
even. This is the "Broadcast News" syndrome. Flash rather than
substance being perceived as quality. Bigger is better.
Over the years I've entered photo contests with what I've known was my
best work (These were 2D contests). I never won anything until I
"gave up" and sent in photos that I thought the judges might like.
I've won some prizes since. But I don't enjoy these "competitions"
anymore. I'd rather please myself than someone else...maybe I just
march to a different drummer, but I like the tune. And the judges be
d......:-)
So, if anyone doesn't care for my submissions in expo-2, that's fine
with me. I AM interested in what others are doing in the medium, and
I'm not closed minded about learning something new. That's why I'm
entering expo-2. Not for competition. So, for the most part, I'll
still keep shooting what I like...for ME. If you like it too, that's
nice.
