Yes

You can't get close enough to the fence unless you take off the
lenscap, which I don't advise. I tried shooting through a chain link
fence and ended up with blurred images of fence parts in each view,
even though the lenses were centered in the fence openings.
I solved the problem by hooking the neck strap to the top of the
fence, tossing the camera over the fence, sticking my nose through
the fence so I could peer through the viewfinder, sticking a looooong
finger through the fence to trigger the shot, then trying to retrieve
the camera so I could wind to the next shot and try again. It works.
