That's not a strange question at all.  I have done that and other weird
things with my Realist.  Taking the cup off (or buying a Realist without
one for less money) is actually a good idea.  You can then take pictures
through glass (among other places) by flushing the Realist in the glass to
eliminate reflections.  -- George Themelis
