I don't know about the focusing range of this viewer, but I'm reminded
of a book I saw that suggested making such a viewer for fun.  It 
suggested taking a marble and letting it roll around inside a bowl.
Through the viewer, it looks like the marble rolls up and down the
sides of a mound, gradually slowing down and finally resting on the top.
