transposing viewer
While I can't identify this viewer from the description, it sounds like a
viewer designed for Tru-Vue type stereo film strips. These were positives
printed from negatives, where the images were transposed in the printing
process. Transparencies shot with a conventional stereo camera would be
"un-transposed" if you try to view them without cutting and mounting.
The only viewer I know of that actually transposes images (through a set of
prisms) is that made by Leitz, as part of its Stemar system.
