Don't know if it's the same, but your post reminded me - when I was 6-7(?)
years old, I went on a guided tour of the Gillette Mansion, somewhere in or
near New York state, and it may have had gardens around it. I believe many
wealthy families built mansions in New York, and I expect a number of them
provide tours.
