midnight movies

Elliott made a comment about wanting to see midnight 3D movies. It's
entirely possible but limited in the choice of movies. A small theater was
renovated and opened as an independent second run movie house in my
neighborhood here in Tacoma. I toured the place before they opened and
found they were keeping the old silver screen. I immediately approached the
manager about a 3D film festival. I did quite a lot of research on it
including a number of conversations with Stereovision. It all fell apart
when the screen started to.
Also the place was struggling a bit and the owners couldn't be convinced it
would be profitable.
Some films are readily available through Spacevision, mostly the 70's 3D
films. Warhol's Frankenstien just showed last October in Olympia. The 50's
films would have to be obtained from the studios if they in fact still have
any prints available. Also you need a theater equipped with two projectors
(for the 50's films). The Blue Mouse had removed its second projector so
they could fit a spooler in the projection room.
I'm not trying to discourage this, I would love to see it happen. I'm just
sharing some of the information I turned up. I would even be willing to
bring it up to the theater management again. If you would like to get
something going, Elliott, let me know.
