Probably a short addendum to the repair "manual" sold by Reel 3-D (which sells
for about $10?) would be far more effective technically and economically
(could be as cheap as a couple of bucks and be mailed in a business-size
envelope). In fact I've thought about doing that myself, even making it
publicly available in the FAQ. (And I would _never_ consider putting a
piece of V-M's original material back in as a replacement pad! There
are far better modern materials available, in performance and durability.)
By the way, the shutter bounce fault usually manifests itself as a dark
vertical band on the right edge of both images, literally caused by the
shadows of the shutter blades as they oscillate to rest on closing. The
"lighted color side to one image" you mention might be caused by perhaps the
second-most-common fault in the V-M Personal: Light leakage through the
shutter blades when the film transport is in the "A" position. I address
that, too, on my cameras, by installing an opaque curtain above the sliding
lens assembly on the left, which collapses out of the way when the transport
is switched to the "B" position.
