You could, of course, use a NIMSLO! Two adjacent chips would give you
the same useful film area as a macro beamsplitter, and a 2 or 3 Dioptre
close-up lens over both of the lenses would move the focus to about the
distance you need, and also toe-in slightly to create a "window".

You could also construct a Clemetson attachment for your SLR. This is a
twin lens close-up unit similar to the Leica twin lens stereo
attachments that command such high prices from collectors. The design is
well documented in various journals. I've never made one, but I
understand it's relatively straightforward, and the results that I have
seen from them have been remarkable. I believe that Hugo de Weiss makes
beautiful examples in Holland...
