Scanning stereo mounts?

I realised that I have a treasure trove of
high-quality, copywrite free imagery with my stereo-slide
collection (and hey, you out there, I'm always buying
interesting stereo slide collections! *end of sponsor's
          message*).

The PROBLEM: I wanna scan these old images WITHOUT removing
them from their old, heat-seal, stereo mounts (the mounts
and their written comments are part of the charm). Does
anyone know of a CHEEP service that will do this for me?
Does anyone know of a rig that I can set-up over a flatbed
to accomplish this? (Frontal glare would be a problem, even
with backlighting). Or a scanner/slide-attachment that
allows these slides to hang-out the side? How about an
inexpensive brand of scanner that has such a set-up?
Another PROBLEM: many are in glass, so glare/focus problems
may have to be figured in.

          Thanx,

          LS
