Re[2]: "Collecting"

     Jeff,

I agree with your point about hoarders. They make things tough for
the rest of us, especially, those, like myself, trying to break into
     3-D for the first time.

I am currently considering purchasing a Realist 3.5. What makes you
say it's "non-user friendly?" That's not exactly a rave review....

I couldn't agree more with the gentleman from Seattle who is disgusted with the
"collectors" of stereo equipment who, sometimes, hoard the stuff and set it on
a

shelf. I have been very frustrated during the last year of trying to get into
the stereo photography hobby. I have spent hours, days, even weeks looking
everywhere I can think of in the Florida area for equipment. At least 3 times,
I

have found stereo cameras displayed in a showcase with other old cameras, but
when I offered to buy them, I was told that that was their "museum", and they
would not sell the cameras under any circumstance. It seems to me that we don't
need a camera "museum" in every camera store!

I searched for several months for a ViewMaster Personal Film Cutter, before
finially finding one through the net. I bet there are dozens of them setting on
shelves collecting dust, while there are many people out there desperately
trying to find them (I got lots of mail from people who were also looking for
one).

I would hope most on this list would not be guilty of hoarding, as there seems
to be a genuine interest in encouraging others to get into stereo. But they
might use their influence with those they meet, to help get the equipment to
the

folks who need it.

P.S. I just found a Revere 33 which I think I will like, so if it checks out OK,

my non-user friendly Realist 3.5 will be for sale soon.
