Fed and Nimslo programed exposure
I have a folio in my possesion at the moment in the notebooy of which
somebody ia asking some questions in reply to what I wrote the last time
around .About how I thought the Nimslo and Fed programed exposures worked
.A short while ago there was some discussion on the group about this but
unfortunately I did not keep this.
>From what I remember the <> shape shutter and iris opens to the selected
aperture at a constant speed so that the exposure time also increases as
the aperture does so that the time (horizontal) by aperture (vertical)
graph is something like /\. But it was more complicated than that perhaps
because there was some shutter priority so that the time it was open was
extended to keep the aperture small so it was flattened out at the top.
The Fed manual quotes just the slowest speed and aperture 1/30 2.8 and
highest 1/650 16 (I think) for an EV of 8-17 the Nimslo 1/30 5.6 1/500 22
for EV 9-16( again I think) . Given that the Nimslo shutter is continuously
variable within its range is it possible to quote the intervening shutter
speeds and F numbers for the intervening EV's and how could you work it out
for the Nimslo and Fed. If anyone wishes to reply to this but they feel it
would be of no further interest to the rest of the group please feel free
to reply to me directly. P.J.Homer
