Re: 3d comet

First of all, my apologies, since there is nothing in this message about
"collecting vs. using" ;)

I went out last night and did some more comet photography. Thought I
wasn't going to be able to do any, as the skies clouded over about the
time I got off work - so much so, that I thought it must be Friday! ;)

But they cleared, and about 10:30pm I drove 25 miles out of town to a
dark(er) site. Must have been some haze in the atmosphere, since I could
see a dome of light from Denver, about 70 miles away!

But the skies were fairly dark, and Hyukatake was a very nice naked eye
object, with a tail easily visible. I don't know the number of "degrees",
but I could see the tail naked eye for about the width of my fist at arm's
length! You really oughta get out and see this thing!

Of the rolls of film I took, I've managed to get one developed. This roll
used TMAX TMY-400 B/W film, and I developed it pushed two stops to EI 1600.
I used three different lenses on my Pentax 6x7, with the following
bracketing:

   165mm (80mm in 35mm terms) 1, 2, 4, 8 sec.
   105mm ("normal") 5, 10, 20 sec.
   55mm (28mm in 35mm terms) 5, 10, 20 sec.

It seems the exposures around 10 sec. worked the best. The tail is clearly
visible in the negatives.

I took a second identical roll about 1 hour later. When I get it developed
(hopefully this noon) I'll report back on whether or not there was any
relative movement during that time.
