Don't give 3-d cameras away for free!!!

A last word before I leave for my email-free weekend (actually it is
fun, no one to bother me with "What's the progress with my viewer" ;))

Since there was some discussion about loaning stereo cameras, I have to
say this: Don't give cameras or 3-d accessories away for free or as
presents. I don't think it is a good idea.

A few years ago, before I got into the habit of buying and reselling
equipment, I gave a couple of cameras and viewers away to friends for
free... This only led to problems...

If your friend stops being your friend, you will really miss the red
button viewer which, in the meanwhile, has appreciated quite a bit.
Give clothes or CDs for presents. Not stereo cameras. It's easy to
tell when a camera is not being used... No pictures! So, what do you
do? Ask for it back?

If you care for a person and you want them to get started in 3-d, loan
them a camera. If they like it, offer to sell it at a reasonable price.
In a more general context, we do not appreciate free things as much as
we appreciate things that they had to pay money for. So, let the
potential 3-d addict pay for his own tools... Works better this way...
