Fellow 3-Dites,
A friend of mine recently purchased a box of 37 realist format slides of
pretty women in glamourous poses. The lucky dog paid $30 for this find.
Although the slides were likely dupes, pretty good ones at that, we were
both curious about their origins. I set to doing some research. I would
appreciate any additional information that can be provided about these slides.
- One of the slides is the exact photograph titled "Girl on the Beach" by
John Meredith. That's the one where she sits on a beach towel with an
inflatable Pluto panting as she reties (or removes) her bikini bottom. This
photograph is reproduced in Morgan & Lester's "Stereo Realist Manual" inside
and on the cover.
- All appear to be professionally shot, with good artificial lighting on
interiors and supplimental lighting (reflectors or flash) on the exeriors.
- The women are wearing bikini swim suits in many of them. They are
attractive...aspiring movie stars?
- They appear to be shot in Southern California, some are beach scenes.
- Overall quality is very good.
- Paper mounts with no markings.
Could this be a collection of dupes from John Meredith?
Did he sell his slides in sets?
Could this be part of a collection of several glamour photographers?
Should I hit my friend over the head and steal them from him?
I am very interested in slides from that era. Unfortunately I have never
been so lucky to come across such a find. If anyone has more info I would
appreciate it.
On another subject: I have found a WEB page that converts currency. It is
real handy if you want to convert marks or yen to American dollars and
vice-versa. Sometimes 3-D equipment is listed that way. Turn your browser to:
http://www.xe.net/cgi-bin/convert.new
Thanks in advance.
