3D from movies

Theoretical question here.  I have heard some say that you could take two 
frames of a movie scene in which there was some horizontal movement 
(panned shot) and generate a 3D pair, right?

Now, Disney is releasing Toy Story, a computer generated movie, in 
October.  Would two frames from this movie generate a 3D pair?  Would you 
be able to do this with any cartoon?
