Let's clarify here that in the following statement:
>If one uses 1/50 sec. thinking it's close to an SLR's 1/60 sec.

George is talking about flash bulbs *only* and not electronic flash (right
George?) When using electronic flash you can set the speed to any setting
and affect only the ambient light and not the light from the flash. The
duration of the electronic flash is so short that it is not affected by the
relatively much longer shutter speeds of classic stereo cameras.
While on the subject of flash, I would like to urge stereo photographers to
try flash. Many of my best stereo pictures are taken with flash. Use it
indoors and also outdoors for fill-in. Any electronic flash can be made to
work with any stereo camera.
