volume learning

I just caught a portion of a cable tv show about the human mind.
It had a very interesting segment on the most unusual use of 3D
I have ever seen. What they did was to have a someone view a
magic eye image (random dot stereogram?) on a monitor, once the
subject had the stereo image locked in text was superimposed
over the image, it was then scrolled at a very high rate up to
690,000 words per minute. The subject was then tested on the
content of the text, it was a short fiction novel. They were asked
about 24 multiple choice questions, things like "what did Daniel find
in the safe " The person that was tested picked the correct answer
73 percent of the time, and said they had never read this novel before.

The idea was to give people the same abilities as people with a
photographic memory. The show suggested that we can store a lot
more information faster as images rather than bits.
But they did not explain the 3D connection.

I for one would like to know more about this. If any of this has
merit it would be a fantastic learning tool, you know computer
and real 3D.

Just passing along something of interest.
