Stereo-Panorama Hybrid

Here's something for the Imagineers in the 3-D community. I have a
weathered old camera from pre-WWII era. Called the Ica Polyscop. Used
plate film in the 45mm X 107 size. Two uncoated Tessar lenses. Results
were two essentially 2-1/4 square stereo views. It had a magazine, ala the
old Graphic sheet film magazines, and when I experimented years ago with cut
down 4X5 pan film, the images were very sharp. ( Tessars, even uncoated,
were a good optical design with a wide field. ) Now here's the kicker. This
camera allowed the front lens board to slide, so that one lens could convert
to and become gthe optic for a single panorama view- I mean a BIG picture,
full 45 x 17, almost anamorphic in proportion! My thought is: the design
of a future stereo camera we all lust for, could incorporate the inherent
value of the panorama/steeo hybrid. Any reactions?
