Ambient light for VM viewers...

Regarding Bill's question about what light to use with VM viewers:

My all-time favorite light is to use your regular hinge-arm desk lamp
(you know the one...it's on every art student's desk), which clamps onto
the edge of any table. Point the light directly down onto a bright white
desk or a piece of paper and point the viewers at this diffused, but bright
light. The color balance will depend more on the color of the table
surface than the bulb itself, but I use a standard frosted 60W.

The bonuses of this set up:

-can be fixed up almost anywhere
-the table provides a surface to safely place the reels
-steady viewing if you place your elbows on the table (don't tell mom!)
-the position is easy to maintain and won't give you a horrible neck pain
(as looking up at a ceiling lamp will!!!)
-CHEAP! These lamps are usually sold for under $12 (in a wide range of
colors to match any home)

                                          :-)jamie.
