Steve,
Anything that you think might change in the future is worth documenting.
About the only thing that has not changed in one century are some monuments
like the Parthenon in Greece, etc. Look what people are collecting today:
Transportation (old cars, trains, airplanes), people (personalities or just
for the clothes), cities with buildings that have changed drastically, etc.
The cars and people's clothing that look boring today, have changed a lot
over the past 50 years and will certainly change in the next 50 years. So,
just document anything and everything!
Don't forget personalities... There are many well-known personalities in
3-d that are worth photographing and have their pictures signed... People
like Paul Wing, Paul Milligan, David Starkman, Susan Pinsky, David Burder
(even Dr. T. who knows...;)) go to all the NSA conventions and yet I don't
see anyone running after them snapping pictures. Who knows how much a Paul
Wing original 3-d slide (in ever-lasting Kodachrome), autographed in the
mount, will be worth 50 years from now...
Also, keep all the 3-d memorabilia like programs, reels, etc. from all the
NSA and ISU conventions... Have people sign the books that you buy from
them... How many people have an original Reel 3-D first catalog??? Or
Dalia's entire series of catalogs and mini-magazines? Or a Dr. T first
edition Kodaslide Repair kit? If 3-d ever becomes more popular, as I
suspect it will, these unique items will be worth lot's of money...
