I have three Kodak DCS 460 cameras for scientific application stuff. I have
spent the last two days climbing in and out of gullies in Northern Alabama
for the USDA Soil Conservation Service with a DCS 460 in tow. The resolution
of these instruments is something to behold. The price tag for these
instruments is aprox. $32,000.00 (U.S.) each. Silver halide crystals are about
7.5 micrometers across ... a Kodak DCS 460 pixel is 9 micrometers across ...
The technology is here. All it takes is VERY deep pockets.
Subjective reviews of comparative resolution / image quality are for hobbyists.

Snide remarks are welcome: I'll reply with facts.
