An off the shelf (out of the attic?) stereo camera of the fifties would
probably suffice for research- use closeups of faces, even if there is, as
we all know, a bit more depth than derived from the average interocular
distance. Most of us don't find that of more than theoretical and even
nitpic concern. BUT, see David Burder's article in the annual," Minolta
Mirror" of 1991. Burder has custom designed and had built for him a
variable interocular camera that is nothing short of incredible, and
presents the results in that publication. Past issues of Minolta Mirror can
be obtained from Minolta Corporation 10l Williams Drive, Ramsey, N.J. 07446.
About 10 bucks. 1991 issue, pg 85, entitled " 3-D Breakthroughs by David
Burder." If I had a research budget, heck, if I had any kind of budget, I'd
be working with camera equipment such as the gear that David uses so
effectively. Hope this is of interest to any or all. Aloha, Gerry
PS. Can't be any more costly than restoring a 1948 T-Bird. Or buying your
own Humvee, as Arnold S. has allegedly done. Hasta la vista Baby....
