Re: "Sale of the...moment?"
I've had some responses to my offer to "give" away a twin rig 35mm
hyperstereo outfit. To those that have made offers and to those who
are still mulling it over, I'm repeating the original post and
including an expansion. If anyone who has made an offer and wishes to
revise or recind it after reading this, please let me know.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Original post:
Here's the chance for a handyman to get something for nothing
(almost).
I have an ancient twin rig for hyperstereos. It consists of two
Konica FP slr's, bar with tripod threading, twin cable release and six
lenses (pairs of 35mm, 50mm and 135mm). The cameras were not very
reliable while I was using the rig, and one is now jammed. I'm not
capable of working on it myself and I'm sure the cost of repair would
be more than I care to absorb.
So, here's the deal: I will "give" the kit and kaboodle away to the
highest bidder. Now wait a minute, you say, that doesn't sound like a
give-away. Well, all I need is for someone willing to pay the
shipping and it's theirs. Now, any one saying they'll give me $5 over
shipping (or $10, $15, $?), they are the high bidder. Remember, I'm
saying it's a non-functioning system right now. But the lenses alone
have to be worth the shipping cost, no?
I will wait until Monday, May 6, to let all interested to think about
it. Then, I'll ship it out to the losererer...I mean winner. Oh,
yes, the tie breaker is the earliest response with maximum bid.

Expansion:
I just wanted to reiterate and clarify that the non-jammed camera is
"unreliable". It seemed to work only at the upper shutter speeds the
last time I used it (two weeks ago). Last night, when I took the lens
off and fired the shutter, I could see the mirror flip up, but no
matter what shutter speed I set the camera at, the mirror seemed to
return at the same rate (allowing 1/60 or 1/125 second?). I then
opened the back of the camera and I could not tell whether or not the
focal plane shutter was even opening or not. So, the second camera
may have deteriorated further from my last use of the rig.
I'm not trying to deceive anyone. I hope that's obvious. This is a
broken down system that I will never use myself. If someone else can
fix it up, or at least is able to use the lenses (I can't. My regular
35mm system is Minolta), it could be a bargain.
