That's the LEEP system.  We had a heck of a discussion about that a 
few years back (check the archives).  The way the LEEP system got 
around the problem was by correcting the viewer's aberrations by 
building in the opposite aberrations in the camera lenses.  So if the 
viewer had lateral color one way, the camera lens had it the other 
way.  In a loose sense, this is like the old trick of projecting (or 
enlarging) with the same lens you took the picture with to get rid of 
image distortion.
