Realist on my forehead...

I disagree. I wasn't much of a photographer at all until I picked up a Realist.
In fact, my 30 dollar P&S got filled with Tel Aviv seawater in 1989 and I never replaced it until I stumbled into 3D last year.

I'd had some experience with 16mm Motion picture film , but needed some serious re-education about exposure. I think that paying attention to all of the factors contributing to getting a good picture out of a manual camera isn't _that_ tough, and is very rewarding once you get the hang of it. I've had great success just following the suggested exposure settings that are printed inside the film boxes, and am just now getting into using a meter. I think that using a manual camera has made me into a better photographer. Though I have to admit, cocking the shutter is a bit of a pain, and I still forget from time to time.

It's been pointed out before that this provides a great way to keep your camera steady, as it sort of rests on the bridge of your nose. As they say, it's not a bug, it's a feature!

Come on! A whole work day? 8 hours? or a full 24? That's just silly.

Thanks for everyone's advice on getting the FED in Ukraine. I guess we'll just play it by ear.
