In response to Duane's response to my response to his posting...

And I would like to see this changed...because it does not help
communication.

All stereo slides mounted in the standard frames of 1 5/8" by 4" (41 mm x
101 mm) have one thing in common... They can be viewed and projected using
the same hardware. I am not sure if this format has a name. I chose
to call it "Realist-format" even though I fully aware of the fact that,
in a narrow sense, "Realist-format" means a specific image size too.

Consider someone who uses a "Realist-format" camera but mounts his slides
in separate slide holders. Is he working in the Realist format? Not for
me. I cannot view his work the same way that I view my work. I need
different viewers and projectors (and I am not alone...)

At the end, the choice of viewing equipment will determine the compatibility
of stereo images and I believe that a name should be given to this very
common system of slides mounted in 41 mm x 101 mm mounts. I chose to call
it "Realist-format" but will switch to any other name, if more appropriate.
Perhaps "Realist +" or "Realist ++" or "slides mounted in standard 41 mm x
101 mm mounts format".

Sure, why not? I am into good stereo photography. Tools are tools.
Pictures do the "talking". I have seen good Nimslo and FED pictures.

Now, just a minute! It was Dalia who first called it "Brick". I found
it cute and used it. You see, I am not emotionally tied to my Realist.
I just use the Realist to take pictures... and I like what I get.

Whatever you say Duane... But you will have to give them the Nimslo/FED
because I don't have any of them. I sold my Nismlo a few months ago and
have not bought a FED yet (waiting for the prices to go down and the
quality to go up...)

FYI, Duane, I will not bring any Realist cameras for sale in Rochester.
I am not in the business of selling stereo cameras... My specialty is
stereo viewers. I did get a large stock of Realists from Harry Poster and
these are the ones that I am selling now. By Rochester time there will not
be a single camera left. Better hurry... ;)

George Themelis, A real Realist *FORMAT* (or whatever...) affectionato...
