Manual Stereo Cameras of the 50's

IMO, the argument over the user friendliness of the 50's cameras (not
quality of image features, but ease of use) is superfluous

Anyone not having the patience to learn exposure in general and the
idiosyncrasies of the particular 50's camera at hand, probably sends
his film out for mounting rather than do it him/herself. That is fine
for newbies or for quickscans before selecting the best images for
precision mounting (Why precision mounting, you ask? Because that's
why you take the slide in the first place; to see it, to see it in
terms that the 2D photographer can't, to have something better.). And
the meticulousness necessary to put the image correctly into a mount
outweighs the 15 minutes, 2 hours, one day, 1 week or more it may take
to become familiar with the ancient 50's camera you'll be using.

But you're going to make life easy by going with the automated Fed or
Nimslo? That's fine too, but beware. If it's too tedious for you to
use a manual camera, you will probably find proper mounting for that
ultimate viewing enjoyment even more tedious.

Now if there was only some way to snap the shutters of my Realist and
have a precision mounted slide pop out the side like a Polaroid print
     --- yeah, that's the ticket! :-)
