Hi Allan,
I'm new to the list so maybe you're pulling my leg? I wish there was such a
camera but it hasn't been invented yet... I like your bathroom window idea.
It does have a similar effect.
The only way to make stereograms is by repeating imagery in some fashion
horizontally. You can use any kind of graphic including photos. It's
interesting to create stereograms using stereo-pair photos as the raw
material. Then cut and paste the portions of the image you want to use. This
is far easier in a computer than with printed photos.
I'm working on a photo-based batch of stereograms but I only have a couple
examples on my web page so far.
Stereograms are really complex stereo pairs so your real "SIRD" camera is
any of the 3D cameras discussed on this list. It just requires some
elaborate layout work after you have the photos.
