Elliot Swanson asks:

Does anyone know of an RBT distributor closer to home who sells the glass
halves for RBT mounts?

Good question...and here is the answer. I offer this, and here is how it
works for those who may not be familiar.

The white glass half has a 24 x 33 frame opening....one size only....you
would use the black halve, in one of the five available formats, to mask
down.

First heres how the setup comes to you.

One box of the white side only would have 100 halves....so you could convert
100 of your existing slides to glass. Two boxes would upgrade 200 mounts.
You will need two packets of anti newton glass for each box of 100 you buy,
plus one bag of sprocket bars for your replaced non-glass halves.

Additional cost (from standard glass mount setup) per box here is for:

1) 100 white halves which are recessed for accepting glass.
2) One extra pack of glass 100pcs....two packs total for each box of100
halves.
3)Additional packaging for the glass because there is no room for a second
pack of glass in a standard RBT box of 50 setup.
4) Additional shipping weight per box, due to the glass.

When you use 100 glass halves, you would displace 100 white non-glass
halves......so in the future, you can order standard non glass RBT halves in
black only to use with the non-glass white halves, at the standard setup
price, no extra charge.
In fact I have many people order the black setup only because they like the
look in a viewer....with minimal reflection from the viewing chamber.

Costs include packaging / handling/ insurance in the US only

One-sided glass mounts helps if you project, especially in 7, W & Full
formats. Two anti-Newton glass pieces nest flush into left and right
apertures of a white halve, providing one-sided protection from bulb heat,
eliminating popping of the emulsion for more accurate focusing on screen.
