I think that's the key right there.  You need IR blocking filters, 
possibly two in series with air blowing between them.  Keep all 
optics large where you can.  The tough part is when you have to 
stuff that much light through that small hole which is the aperture 
the transparency is in.  Wow!  5 kW!  Ever think about medium or 
large format stereo?  Now might be the time to start.  8-)
