possible extended outage

I'm mailing out this notice to all the mailing lists hosted on bobcat
so that if we suddenly disappear for an extended period you will
know what has happened.

This institution is in the process of merging with another State of
Texas higher education facility. Due to that move, the network topopology
is going to change drastically sometime in the next couple of weeks.
All of our current internet addresses will be deleted and new addresses
will be assigned. 

Now, this is a major project to get everything working right, PLUS
your humble system operator will be off campus. So, if the net
goes down, I'll have no way to reach the machine (even if I telephone
in long distance to the LINUX backup machine in my office - because
it's IP will be changing also). Although I can fix things up on 
Bobcat itself, I have no control once the ethernet packets head
down the wire towards the computer center and the Cicso box.

Hopefully, things will go smoothly (famous last words). But I wanted
to let you know in case something goes wrong, goes wrong, goes wrong :-)
