In a recent exchange, the difference between 116 and 716 projs was questioned, 
and Dr T mentioned the fans are the same. 

Yes, and no.  Even if the fans are interchangeable, the condensor elements are 
retained in a "new and improved" system which allows more air to flow through
(TDC's claims--not mine!). If you're going to use 750W bulbs, buy a 716. If
you want to use 1,000's, get a Realist! You probably can get away with more
power than specified, but I get lots of feedback about melted, warped or bowed 
slides. 

   If you're careful (and quick), you will probably get away with the over
rating; fall asleep at the switch and  :(
